General Donation Terms & Conditions and Data Protection
All praise is due to Allah, The Lord of the Worlds. We, the makers of Sadaqahcoin testify that there is none worthy of worship except Allah and that Muhammad, Peace and Blessings be upon him, is His servant and messenger.
We are aware that Allah will ask us about these donations and how they were spent.
Allah The Almighty says:
„And stop them; indeed, they are to be questioned.” [Quran, 37:24]
Administrative and Development Costs for Sadaqah
Donations allow us to support vulnerable people in crisis areas to lift them out of poverty and helplessness. To manage this, 13% percent of the money from charitable donors has to work as administration and development costs. Administrative efforts enable us to provide aid effectively and in a timely manner, ensuring that the right aid reaches the right people at the right time. Our goal is to keep our administrative expenses as low as possible without compromising the quality of our work. Administrative costs are used to invest in the equipment, infrastructure, and processes we need to work professionally and efficiently and to ensure safety for all stakeholders. Administrative costs include overhead costs such as rent for offices, technical equipment such as computers and cameras and salaries for administrative staff. It also covers ensuring the anonymity of the sender and the recipient of donations and cyber security.
The development costs include all kinds of investments to generate more donations. This includes an online presence, fundraising campaigns, placing ads on social media, printing posters, fliers, stickers, etc. We are convinced that this will allow us to support even more people in need in the future. Thus, your donation multiplies, Allah willing:
„The parable of those who spend their wealth in the way of Allah is that of a grain which grows seven ears, in every ear a hundred grains. Allah enhances several fold whomever He wishes, and Allah is all-bounteous, all-knowing.“ [Quran, Sura 2:261]
We believe in transparency and accountability on judgment day, so we feel we have to make donors aware that we have administrative and development costs and that these are necessary expenses for a charity.
„Do not mix truth with falsehood or hide the truth knowingly.“ [Quran, Sura 2:42]
This is precisely why we disclose all of this and require each donor to agree to our donation terms and conditions before donating. Only after agreeing to the donation conditions, the donor gets access to our donation accounts.
Administrative and Development Costs for Zakah
Sadaqahcoin does not use one cent of Zakah donations for administrative and development costs.
We have sought the opinion of recognized legal scholars, which is why we do not take administrative and development costs from Zakah. This means that the full amount of Zakah that reaches us will reach Zakah beneficiaries. The Zakah projects supported by Sadaqahcoin are Zakah compliant with no exceptions.
When sending Zakah, small third-party transaction costs are incurred for which Sadaqahcoin is not responsible. Hereby, Sadaqahcoin exempts itself from incurring the transaction costs (third party fees) when receiving Zakah. We try to keep the transaction costs as low as possible and appeal to you this way to send us the amount via a cryptocurrency which entails little (e.g. Monero XMR) to no (Nano NANO) transaction fees.
Imam An-Nawawi, may Allah have mercy on him, said in Al-Majmoo: “In cases where the transfer of Zakah money is permissible or obligatory, the owner should pay the fees from his own money.”
When we receive Zakah, we assume that the Zakah giver has dealt with the matter and thus transferred the Zakah amount including transaction fees to us.
For each currency exchange, we are charged a small fee by our money exchanger when Sadaqahcoin converts the zakah amount received in cryptocurrency to the local currency. The fees may change from time to time but usually stay below 2%. These fees are charged extra at the time of Zakah submission and are identified to the Zakah giver.
Legal Ruling
Our decision to take a percentage from the Sadaqah sent to us for administration and development costs, but not from Zakah is based on rulings of Islamic jurists of Sunni origin. If you are interested in learning more about this, please let us know.
Fundraising Campaigns and Projects
Sadaqahcoin usually offers a variety of donation campaigns and projects. The goals of these donation campaigns and projects result from Sadaqahcoin’s annual plans. These plans define what the goals are for the coming years and which campaigns and projects are to be carried out to achieve them. This results in the proceeds needed for the next year through donations.
If the proceeds of a donation campaign are insufficient or the realization of the campaign or project is no longer possible due to unforeseen circumstances, a decision is made within an internal council meeting for an alternative donation option. In this case, the Sadaqahcoin council tries to do justice to the donors by all means, in which Sadaqahcoin forwards the donated money to where it comes closest to the actual fundraising campaign or project.
Conversely, if a fundraising campaign or project generates more proceeds than needed, a council meeting is held as well. In this council meeting, the council decides on an alternative destination for this additional amount. Of course, the Council also makes an effort to decide on campaigns and/or projects that are closest to the actual ones.
Proof of Sadaqah
Are all donations documented in Proof of Sadaqah?
Donations of $200 or more, large projects, and campaigns will certainly get their place in Proof of Sadaqah. We make every effort to document smaller donations in the media as well. Unfortunately, administratively this is not always possible for our media team. However, this in no way means that we do not appreciate the value of small donations. On the contrary, every cent is essential in our distribution areas for all those in need and distress.
Unforeseen circumstances and risks
The Prophet Muhammad, peace and blessings be upon him, said:
“…no one knows what will happen tomorrow except Allah.…” [Al-Bukhari]
Donating on SADAQAHCOIN.COM involves various risks, in particular, the risk that Sadaqahcoin may not be able to continue its operation due to unforeseen circumstances (e.g. insolvency, serious illness or death of the initiators of Sadaqahcoin, etc.) and thus unable to provide the promised services. Therefore, before donating, each donor should weigh the risks and seek independent advice in this regard, if necessary. The donor on SADAQAHCOIN.COM by accepting the Terms & Conditions & Privacy Policy of SADAQAHCOIN.COM, exempts all members of Sadaqahcoin – in this world and on the day of judgment – for the occurrence of services not provided resulting from unforeseen circumstances.
